Just minutes west of downtown Santa Barbara lies the boundless suburb of Goleta. A traditional neighborhood full of single-family homes and condominiums have replaced what once were orchards, working ranches, and citrus groves of World War II. A largely coastal town, the University of Southern California, Santa Barbara Airport and Goleta Hospital are located just off the beach, with many of the local residents being employed at these facilities. In addition to these larger establishments, private businesses mainly in the technology, engineering, or industrial industries are plentiful here, a strong contrast to the natural beauty of the area.

Goleta is full of beaches, parks and bluffs, and it also boasts a nature preserve. Several golf courses and shopping centers also offer luxurious distractions from the nearby technical world. Bacara, a world class resort and a popular destination for the rich and famous, is nestled in these foothills.

Goleta homes are as diverse as its residents. They range from large hillside estates to villas by the beach and sprawling ranches. Each housing community offers its own architecture and unique opportunities.

As a center for higher learning, the public schools at all levels are excellent.

Goleta residential real estate is a quiet suburban alternative to Santa Barbara. The community of fewer than 30,000 has successfully retained a small town feel. Goleta has a pleasant mix of single-family homes, condominium developments, and a commercial strip. Goleta is in close proximity to Santa Barbara and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

In Goleta you have the option to choose from more affordable older homes or luxury residences on larger lots. There are a few gated communities, several business districts, and plenty of home options among Goleta residential real estate. You won’t find heavy industry here, however.
